Bwindi Gorilla trekking, Bwindi National park is the biggest national park inhabiting the mountain Gorillas in all the three countries that inhabit the only left Mountain Gorillas in the world. The park covers an area of 321 sq km it’s one of the oldest National parks in the world.

The park is located in the southwest part of Uganda; it’s best famous for mountain Gorillas. There about 800 mountain Gorillas inhabiting the national park, primates, birds, trees, antelopes and many more.

Bwindi is derived from a local word which means “darkness”, since the forest is gifted with streams of water, trees.The park also is a home to 18 habituated mountain Gorilla groups, primates such as chimpanzees, baboons, white and black colobus monkeys, mammals, reptiles, butterflies, frogs, birds and many more.

Gorilla trekking takes 30 minutes to three quarters of the day which is worthy, this depends on the location of the mountain Gorillas where they last feed and nested, take note these are wild animals they keep on moving.

  • Gorilla trekking involves moderate to strenuous hiking(4–7 hours in mountainous and forest terrain).
  • Participants should be in good physical condition and able to walk long distances on uneven, steep, and muddy trails.
  • This experience is not recommended for travelers with:
    Serious back, knee, or joint problems
    Heart or respiratory conditions
    Mobility limitations requiring wheelchair access (the trek is not wheelchair accessible)

Age Limit:

  • Minimum age: 15 years old(per Uganda Wildlife Authority regulations).
  • There is no strict maximum age, but travelers must be fit enough for the trek.

Accessibility:
